Mixing ratio wet concrete

Wet concrete is the liquid mixture of cement, sand, gravel and water. As soon as wet concrete has cured, it is called just concrete. Depending of what you will use your concrete for, e.g. building a brick wall or pour a concrete foundation, the mixture ratio of your ingredients will differ.

Standard ratio wet concrete: 1 – 2 – 3

mixing ratio cement

The standard ratio of the ingredients for wet concrete are:

  • 1 part cement
  • 2 parts sand
  • 3 parts gravel
  • 0,5 part water

Use Cementmix instead of water, to make your cement/mortar directly waterproof through and through. Then continue by following the instructions of the cement/mortar.

Wet concrete must be spreadable. It should keep its form, without water emerging from it. If your mixture is too wet, you should add extra gravel, sand and cement (according the 1 – 2 – 3 ratio) until the consistency of your wet concrete is correct. Wet concrete that contains too much water, will lose strength.

Numeric example

For 1 m³ (1.000 liter) concrete you will need:

  • 325 kg cement
  • 660 kg (0,5 m³) sand
  • 1.300 kg (0,75 m³) gravel (granular size 4 to 16 mm)
  • 160 kg (160 liter) water

Wet concrete for a foundation

Wet concrete, used to pour a foundation, has a somewhat different ratio:

  • 1 part cement
  • 2,5 parts zand
  • 3,5 parts gravel
  • 0,5 part water

Use Cementmix instead of water to make your concrete waterproof through and through.

Mortar

Mortar is used to lay bricks or in plaster-work. Mortar differs from wet concrete, because mortar contains no gravel. The mixture ratio is as follows:

  • 1 part cement
  • 4 parts sand
  • 0,5 part water

Use Cementmix instead of water to make your concrete waterproof through and through.

In what order you should mix your wet concrete

  1. Gravel
  2. Sand
  3. Cement
  4. Water

First mix the gravel with the sand. After that you add the cement. When gravel, sand and cement are mixed together properly, you can add the water. If you use Cementmix instead of water, your concrete will be waterproof after hardening.

When you start mixing the wet concrete, be sure you have all the ingredients at hand. Also, calculate how much wet concrete (liter) will fit into the mixer – you don’t want to end up, not having enough space for all the ingredients you need to make your wet concrete.

Cementmix

  • Cementmix replaces water in the mixing process of concrete and cement. 5 litre Cementmix represents 5 litre of water.
  • Lifelong guarantee
  • Available in  1 / 2,5 / 5 / 10 / 25 Liter.
